March 2018 Water Management Professional Development Mission
March 17, 2018 - March 24, 2018

The March 2018 Professional Development Mission is built around the idea of tackling Ohio’s water concerns from the primary sources of contamination to those who primarily work to reduce/remove contamination. As such, the mission includes site visits focusing on areas including:
- Reduction of agricultural runoff via technologies like drip irrigation and crop supplementation
- Reduction of contaminated urban and rural runoff via stormwater capture and treatment
- Reduction of contamination through septic failure via alternative small-scale waste water treatment
- Reduction and management of toxic algal growth through novel treatments developed specifically for lakes and other fresh water bodies
- Innovative urban agricultural practices that reduce fertilizer use and runoff, and provide additional environmental and community benefits
- Methods to prevent and control shoreline degradation
Additionally, the mission includes visits to CleanTech incubator centers that work on R&D to create innovative solutions to a wide range of CleanTech issues world-wide; this is an exciting opportunity for participants to get a behind-the-scenes look at emerging technologies in the development stage.
